This is a scene based on the paintings of surrealist artist Zdzisław Beksiński. I wanted to recreate the mood and structures of his paintings and expand upon them in a full 3D scene. The scene is lit dynamically in UE4 and I tried to experiment with some new workflows such as the dust clouds that are flipbooks made in Houdini, procedurally generated rocks in Houdini, and using Substance Alchemist for some of the terrain materials.
